Why Should a Business Bring Faith Into Their Workplace?

For some, they feel as though expressing their faith in a business setting crosses a line or offends some sort of cultural norm. Others want to bring their whole selves to work including their faith, but they don't know where to begin. Christ at Work was started to overcome these challenges and objections. It's a movement dedicated to inspiring businesses to bring care and compassion into the workplace.

A number of benefits are experienced when business owners, leaders, and employees embrace the opportunity to bring Christ into their 9 to 5. Community is built among team members, individuals begin to see themselves as difference makers, and a more compassionate environment is fostered.

Building Community

Years ago, Bernie Fineman decided to begin a company meeting with a short prayer. It was nothing special, no profound words were spoken, yet that prayer began a domino effect within the company that would lead to the origin of the Christ at Work movement.

Immediately managers and team members within Caldwell Tanks where Bernie was the CEO asked if they could begin meetings with prayer and what followed was truly a movement of the Holy Spirit. The sense of community among the employees at Caldwell Tanks shifted from simply manufacturing, sales, and accounting to prayer, bible study, and support.

Other companies already on a similar path have seen the direct impact that faith in the workplace can bring. For many, it has become an opportunity to truly be themselves at work, while for others, it has served as a source of answers for questions they may be asking.

Becoming a Difference-Maker

It often only takes one person to make a major difference in the life of their company. Christ at Work is focused on bringing care and love to all people in the workplace. In countless interviews, people have noted the freedom that comes from feeling able to meld their work life and personal life together. They can take their faith and tangibly implement it to serve others.

Christ at Work matters because people need to feel connected, engaged, valued, and appreciated. As we worship God, work with integrity, love our neighbors and cherish our families, we become billboards of God’s message to all we encounter.

Growing an Environment of Compassion

It is estimated that one in 5 Americans suffer from mental health issues in a given year, and most never get the care they need. What does this mean for Christ at Work? It means that now more than ever, there are people we work alongside daily that need to be cared for and prayed over as they attempt to navigate life's struggles. You could be the person God calls to care for someone in need.

As Christians, we are responsible for showing care and compassion to everyone around us, and the workplace might be our best opportunity!

The Journey Starts Here

For one company, choosing to embrace prayer in the workplace was the catalyst. For others, it began by bringing in a chaplain to care for team members. Countless companies are on the journey to bring faith into the workplace.

We hope that the information you discover on our website inspires, informs, and educates you about all the different aspects of Christ at Work. We believe God belongs in everything we do, including in our workplaces.
