RC Fasteners

Rick Johnson runs a “Ministry disguised as a Fastener Company!” Several years ago Rick made the intentional decision to weave his faith directly into his fastener company and use RC Fasteners for God’s glory. The impact God has had on the company and the associates has been amazing!

Rick: We're a ministry working undercover as a fastener company. We sell fasteners for everything aerospace, electronics, industrial, commercial, and construction.

Embracing Christ at Work

I guess for the first 30 years of my walk with the Lord, I was very casual in my in my Christianity. Meaning, yeah, I'm saved. I'm, you know, I'm good. Yeah. You know, I pray here and there and read my Bible once in a while. And I go to church at least once or twice a month. But there's so much more to it. It's a relationship that I didn't have that I didn't realize until I had lost everything.

I was walking out in the warehouse one day and I just said, Lord, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to do a mission trip? What do you want me to do? And I just felt in my spirit that he said, no, we're going to use RC fasteners for my glory. So I said, okay, well, I don't know how to do that, but I need your help. And that's when everything changed. You can make all the money in the world as a business owner, but as a steward to see the fruit that these guys, that that God is growing on these guys, and then they take it home to their families, and their families start to grasp a hold of the fruit, their children, their neighbors. You can make all the money in the world, but nothing compares to that.

Caring for People in the Workplace

If we take care of the root, which is people going after and loving people and loving our vendors, our suppliers, our customers, and our employees, then God will take care of the fruit. I used to have it backwards. First 11 years I've been chasing the fruit, which is success and money versus no, you got to turn it around. You got to go after the root and then God will take care of the fruit. And that has been huge. You know, just by starting with a Monday prayer. And then God will put something else in your heart before you know what you're doing. You're doing something on Wednesday and something on Friday. And before you know it, it's a lifestyle.

Strategies in the Workplace

Marco: Everything we do is led by the Lord. We put him first. We have Friday morning Bible study that's been going on since 2013, and we have Monday morning devotion to start the week. And just every day, we get together and have a quick prayer in the morning to start our day.

Rick: You know, many times in the Bible, they said, here I am. That's what you're doing. You're saying, here I am, Lord, use me. It's exciting. It really is. It takes your whole business and it takes it to a level that I could never have imagined. To me, the main reason to grow is to see people's lives change. A lot of these guys didn't have good parents or good fathers, and God brings them in. And when we invest in them and we kind of get that to come out to the surface. And you see this bright, shiny, different guy, totally different guy that came in. And Mark was a huge testament of that.

Experiencing Christ in the Workplace

Marco: When I first walked in, I felt the presence of God. I immediately knew because I got the same feeling when I walk in the church. I've been here almost nine years. We're a fastener company second, because we put God first in everything we do. It's just such a blessing. There's so many things that they've done. There's not enough time to even describe it. I'm thankful because I prayed for a place to work. Almost nine years ago. And Rick paid for an employee. And the way we met, the way we could converge with each other was a miracle. The way that happened. But that's that's a whole separate story. But yes, I am thankful because they've invested in my life. Just knowing I was loved. Before starting here, I didn't feel loved by anything or anybody. It meant a lot. Saved my life.

Rick: It's it's truly just exciting. I just love to brag about what God's doing because he's amazing.

Marco: We've always had scriptures on the wall, as far as I know, and they are great reminders to us of God's promises. If there's any company out there wondering if they should go all in for God in their business, I will tell you. I don't see my bosses as bosses. I see them as family. Those earthly titles take a back seat and they don't make a difference anymore. Because I'll work harder for my brother than I will my boss.

Rick: You can't put a price tag on me. Again. You just can't. So start somewhere. And once it gets rolling, you won't want to do it any other way. Yeah, you'll be excited to go to work, and so will your employees. And you're going to be successful because he's taking care of the fruit. That's his his business. So it's his responsibility. Our responsibility is to love him and love our neighbor, love our people and watch him do the rest.

And man, what is it? 1 Corinthians 2:9, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard. No mind can imagine what God has in store for those who love him.” And when you really are genuine with your faith. God, you delight in him. So he wants to delight in you and he does things and it just blows you away.
